ASICS new proprietary midsole material takes on a new role as a lasting technology, enhancing comfort by improved cushioning through the use of three different densities: 55 density for increased stiffness to boost the spring rate.
This is an injected and separate piece of Solyte that is in the forefoot of the midsole. The women’s piece is softer (48degree durometer measure) compared to the men’s (53degree). This allows the lighter frame of women to feel the cushioning available in the forefoot of the shoe.

The shape of the units are also precisely designed to the specific function and position.

The Kayano 18 sees a new external heel clutch counter with the medial side reinforced and a new DuoMax, called “Dynamic DuoMax” with a softer layer on top for both men and women. This new 2 layered process allows the shoe to be a lot lighter without compromising support and also allows for a better bonding, moulding process.
