We could not have put it any better than one of our own ambassador players after putting the new 09 GEL-Lethal Ultimate IGS 5 on his foot.

Why is there so much of a weight difference? It is the new outsole built with a Solyte Polymer construction. This material is much lighter than normal football boots that feature injection PU construction. For those of you who are devotees to the Lethal concept of ASICS football boots will find an incredible weight reduction in this year’s top boot. This, coupled with the new development of the Solyte midsole, makes for a 40gram weight reduction which is an incredible decrease.

What we have done also is to listen to our loyal football players who wanted to see a traditional round stud construction. So we kept the Multi Function Cleat pattern under the 1st met head where all the drive and change of direction comes from, and have used a ‘hybrid’ construction for the rest of the sole unit. The grip characteristics and performance of this new outsole unit are outstanding.

The concept of raising the heel 10mm means the foot is in the same position it would be in a running shoe. Once the heel is elevated 10mm the foot starts to work to its optimum. In flat platform boots (from old school design) other body parts such as Achilles, calf, hamstring, hip and back take a lot of the strain to raise the foot. In modern day football across of all codes, there is more running involved than there has ever been in the past. Antiquated football boot designs of the past must move into the future – or move to the rubbish bin. Technology has moved on, why haven’t football boots?

Its time for the rest of the World to take note of the football boot revolution that started here in Australia. Otherwise injuries from poor equipment will become more and more prevalent in the years to come.
