MAXIMUM SUPPORT PHILOSOPHY

The maximum support category is often called motion control and this is where ASICS IGS philosophies come to the fore.

Research has shown you can not control gait and over the last 10 years we at ASICS have worked on the principles of allowing the foot to achieve natural motion in our footwear and making the ‘ride’ in our shoes more efficient.

We build shoes in this category to a different base nett (the base platform widths), so that it gives an extremely stable platform for this type of user. A very popular category for people looking for wider fitting shoes. The maximum support category is to help those who have extremely unstable foot types and place extremely high pressures on shoes. This consumer will often ‘crush’ a shoe.

It is not about controlling the gait, it is about the shoe holding strong during high stresses while still giving a smooth transition through gait and this is where ASICS excels.

The new top model, GEL-Evolution 4 is the best maximum support shoe we have ever made. This shoe will not fold under pressure at mid stance yet at the time of contact, it cushions. And at the time of toe off it is extremely efficient just like a structured or cushioning shoe.

This category has been the target of new outsole rubbers that ASICS have developed.

In the rearfoot the new AHAR+ is even higher in abrasion resistance while adding to the grip factor.

In the forefoot we have the new AHAR RIDE+ which is a high anti-abrasion rubber with new properties to give a cushioned feel in the forefoot. This rubber is lighter, has better grip and is more durable than any ‘sponge’ rubber ever invented.
