Of that vast body of players studied by ASICS, almost 92 percent said old-fashioned football boots directly contributed to their sports injuries.
WHY? Because traditional football boot design has been caught flat-footed by the huge advances made in the science of sports shoes. Even recreational runners now wear better shoes than most professional footballers. Recent studies show that more than 60 percent of all football players will be injured during training and while playing the game. That figure is even higher for female players.

OUR RESEARCH SHOWED THAT, even today, football boot design is primitive. However, the results of that research have led to a breakthrough that has dragged football boots into the 21st Century. Traditional football boots use a simple upper attached to a hard plate of rudimentary moulded polypropylene.
Until now, shock absorption and shoe upper fit and function have virtually been ignored. And, contrary to established biomechanical research, old-fashioned football boots don’t get a shock-attenuating mid-sole and raised heel position. Imagine running 10km in a running shoe with no cushioning and no heel!
